One of the attractions for me was Bruce Lee. I wanted a Kung Fu style that was similar to what I saw on the screen. Phor Kune does that for you. What I like about this style is the close fighting, which is based on speed and technique, plus it keeps you fit.

The training at Phor Kune Kung Fu is demanding both physically and mentally; this is one of the reasons I have enjoyed training over the years so much. Every session is different and challenging in its own way, this variety keeps everyone on their toes and ensures the sessions are never boring. The kung fu taught is practical and extremely effective.

I started because my Dad was going and wanted someone to go with him. That is how I got in to it, and after some time I had a gap from it, but then my daughter was getting bullied at school, so I started again, and she came with me. The fighting is simple, effective and very street wise.

I have trained since the 1990s. I like this club and have stayed with the Phor Kune style because I like the way the instructors show how the techniques are done and how they can be used in real life situations. Although training can be hard - be it stamina training, sparring or general technique, this is merely to show that we can exceed and do better than what we are doing. I also like the fact that there are no limitations in the style- anyone can train regardless or age or ability and if say a fight were taken to the ground we just carry

This is a great club with a friendly atmosphere. This is sometimes hard work, slowly stretching and pushing your limits. Overall a great combination of cardio, stamina, flexibility and techniques. It is now really an integral part of my life and I feel I am missing something when I can't train for a couple of weeks. I also feel much more confident in the street, you never know what might happen.

I feel priveliged to be able to learn this martial art. We are taught by experienced instructors and the training is practical and effective. We do stretching, conditioning, sparring, meditation and much more. It's a fun friendly club and it teaches me self defence which is definately something
worth knowing.
